Corsa dei Gemelli Takes Title Fight to Cape Town

Corsa dei Gemelli returns to Killarney International Raceway this weekend for the penultimate round of the 2026 Investchem MSA4 Championship, with Mikel Bezuidenhout firmly in contention for the national title and rookie teammate Wianko Fourie targeting further progress.

The Cape Town circuit is where the team began its season in commanding fashion. Bezuidenhout secured pole position before winning both races, leaving the opening round with maximum momentum. Six months later, Corsa dei Gemelli returns with the championship battle finely balanced and every point carrying greater significance.

Bezuidenhout heads into the weekend nine points behind championship leader Aqil Alibhai. The pair had been almost inseparable before the previous round, where two runner-up finishes kept Bezuidenhout within striking distance but allowed his rival to extend the advantage.

With four races remaining across the final two rounds, the championship remains open. A strong return to Killarney could reduce the deficit and take the title fight to the Zwartkops finale in October.

Bezuidenhout arrives in Cape Town following another consistent performance at Aldo Scribante Racetrack. He finished second in both races, claimed second overall and recorded the fastest lap in the second encounter. Those results continued a campaign in which he has remained a regular front-runner.

Killarney presents a very different challenge. Its fast, flowing layout rewards commitment, while heavy braking zones and the long main straight create overtaking opportunities. Changing coastal conditions and strong winds can also affect the car’s balance, making an effective setup and clean execution throughout the weekend particularly important.

Fourie returns to the circuit with considerably more experience than he had at the season opener. His rookie campaign has been shaped by a steep learning curve, but there have been clear signs of progress as he has become more comfortable with the MSA4 car.

That improvement was evident at the previous round, where he gained two positions to finish ninth in the opening race. An incident prevented him from contesting Race 2, but the pace and confidence shown earlier in the weekend provided further encouragement. Killarney now offers Fourie an opportunity to measure how far he has progressed since making his MSA4 debut at the venue in March.
